IR Hunter MK II 2.5X-20X 35mm Thermal Weapon Sight
The IR Hunter MK II by IR defense is a revolutionary thermal scope that uses a 12 Micron BAE Micro core and a menu level system in conjunction with turrets to make operation intuitive and fast. The IR Hunter can be set to 30hz or 60hz, has a built in auto-dimmer, image capture, edge detect mode and more. The BAE 12 micron imagery is truly amazing and produces some of the most crisp thermal images ever seen on the commercial market. The MK II also has dynamic reticles so they keep proper ballistic calculations on every zoom level. If you are interested in recording thermal video for your IR Hunter we have ruggedized custom made video cables designed just for the MK II. We offer IR Hunter rentals to try before you buy and have a variety of IR Hunter MK II videos for pre-purchase evaluation.

Edge Detect Mode
The IR Hunter MK II has an Edge Detection feature that produces an entirely different new way of viewing your target. Edge Detect mode is also a fraction of the brightness of other modes so your eyes are not as prone to night blindness after coming off the scope. There are certain tactical situations that require your display to me very dim so as not to be detected, and to reduce night blindness after coming off of your eye piece. The IR Hunter MK II has an advanced feature that has been used on certain high end military thermal sights for years. Edge Detect gives you an entirely different way to view your target, with 90% of the screen black, and only the edges surrounding your target white. This is an extremely useful feature and is not found on any other commercially available thermal weapon sights.

MAXPOL Polarity - White Hot/Black Hot
Most thermal weapon sights come with only one level of white hot and black hot. Some come with color pallets, but the majority of users find themselves using black hot and white hot exclusively. Rather than giving you color pallets that you will most likely never use, IR Defense designed the IR Hunter with 3 levels of white hot, and 3 levels of black hot. This allows you to choose the perfect level of polarity in the white hot or black hot modes for any situation.
The IR Hunter features an extremely benefitial technology called Enhanced Target Recognition, or ETR. Most thermal systems auto adjust the image contrast and brightness across the entire display screen. This can lead to washed out image around the crosshair or for a majority of the display area. ETR selects the are on the display to adjust leaving you with a perfectly adjusted image.
DFC - Digital Focus Control
Digital focus control allows you to not only focus your picture to the optimum setting, but it also allows sharpening of the entire picture. This technology will make a 320x240 appear more like a 640x480. For a detailed look at what DFC can do to image quality look at the image below. This image is raw, unedited, and is not a simulation

Protective Lens Window
The germanium lens can be the most costly component on a thermal device and it is always the most costly component that is exposed to damage from the elements. IR Defense designed a highly transmissive IR window that protects your germanium lens and can be replaced. Replacing the protective window will only cost a fraction of replacing the entire germanium lens.

IR Hunter Menu Operation
The IR Hunter MK II has 3 turret controls that operate the menu levels and functions. The turret controls operate the menu icons corresponding to their location(top turret operates the top menu icons etc).
The menu levels are numbered from 1-8 and each level has different functions.
Level 1 controls the 6 polarity settings, edge detect and digital zoom.
Level 2 controls contrast and digital focus control(DFC).
Level 3 controls calibration and brightness.
Level 4 controls reticle selection.
Level 5 controls windage and elevation adjustments,
Level 6 controls image capture and Enhanced Target Recognition(ETR)
Level 7 allows you to review images.
Level 8 controls the reticle lock, framerate(30hz or 60hz), video output, symbol sleep mode, startup settings, battery settings, display auto dimmer, and deleting captured images.
Video Output
The IR Hunter features a high end mil-spec Fischer connector. This connector costs much more than connectors on competing scopes, but IR Defense decided to choose a video connection option that will last under harsh environments and years of abuse. Video cables and connector quality is very important both in tactical and hunting/recreational situation. One flaw in a cable can leave you wishing you had your kill shot on video. We have a high quality custom video cable for the IR Hunter MK II that connects the MK II directly to a mini DVR. These cables are rugged and built to last.

Since the launch of the IR Hunter we here at UNV have seen IR Defense deliver every scope with a high level of quality control and customer service. We not only sell the IR Hunter MK II, we use the IR Hunter MK II on a frequent basis educating customers and night hunting.
The IR HUNTER has been designed and built by a team that has been delivering great thermal sights, industry-wide, for 20 years. Not just technicians, the IR HUNTER designers are enthusiastic, American Shooters as well. We passionately demand reliability and precision from our optics when putting rounds down range no matter the weather conditions, nor the time of day. This drive and commitment lead us to make the best possible thermal scope, and, we did it! It was achieved,100% here in the USA, and without compromising quality or reliability. That would typically be enough; but the team went a step further, introducing the IR HUNTER thermal weapon sight to market for a highly competitive price. IR HUNTER contains all the features and ergonomics you have wanted, combined into a sleek system made to securely fit onto your rifle. You should find comfort operating the IR Hunter's Turret Knob controls as they are located where you expect them to be, same as your day optics.

IR Hunter II
The IR Hunter is great. Simple to operate and the clarity is outstanding. If you are serious about hunting hogs in the dark in the brush this is a great choice. I like the turret adjustment knobs. Easy to operate in the dark. Don't waste your money on cheap optics. I had to get a second one because my sons always want to use mine. I did lots of research and this is the best value for the money.

Awesome tool for predator control
Purchased this thermal from Tyler a few weeks ago, the unit is as good a described in all of the above reviews. After using the IR mkII for more than 20 hrs I decided to add my 2 cents. As the owner of a cow/calf operation in south MS, this product will more than pay for itself in the future. Plus will allow the deer and turkeys on my property, the ability to raise their young with a little less loss due to predation. I can easily see any animal when I enter a pasture, nothing hides with this device. During this time I have taken 2 coyotes off my property, both would have been tough to take out with my old gen 2 NV...no problem for the IR mkII. Some of my time behind the IR has been spent target shooting, placing rounds in the center of an 8" plate at 200 yards is very easy.Tyler was very helpful and extremely knowledgable, I also purchased the external battery pack which is definitely worth the price.

IR Hunter Thermal
After buying a NV Scope i found it not to be user friendly and visually clear.
So i visited some forum & reviews of a member who has quite a extensive knowledge on NV/thermal scopes for every occasion . IRHMK2 is everything they advertised and more. The small battery spring loaded cover for two CR123 is difficult to screw/unscrew.
A longer lasting battery, without having to purchase an external battery and adding another piece of equipment on the gun would be good.
Constant calibrating of the unit every time you power up takes approximately 24.65 sec from power up to adjusting turret back to level 1
Purchasing a approved external rechargeable battery will solve all those issues.
I rate this unit 4 1/2 star for a strong housing, clear display, on screen info. with turret control and a functional and comfortable shuttered eye-guard.
I goes without saying my purchase wouldn't be possible without the assistant, patient and professionalism of Todd and the other staff of UNV -
Amazing Scope
Ultimate Night Vision was the only company confident enough in their products to allow a rental. The IR Hunter is the way to go. I could see mice at 50 yards. The thermal image is outstanding. I have already placed my order for the new scope. Can't wait. Superb customer service. Thanks Rich.

Best Quality/Price Scope.
After using the IR HUNTER MK II 35mm Scope for 6 months, it has become the best toy I have ever owned. It is by far, the best quality thermal scope I have ever used. The 12 micron technology rocks!
If you are looking for a scope within the 6K range, don't waste your time looking anywhere else. This is the best quality/price scope because of its unbeatable picture quality. The 35mm scope makes it very versatile. The FOV is wide enough to be used as a spotter too. I'm a hog hunter and have taken kill shots of up to 450 yards using this scope.
Ultimate Night Vision was extremely helpful in guiding me in choosing the best scope for my needs. Tyler was extremely helpful with advice. The customer service they offered and especially the after sales service is unbeatable! A big thank you to Tyler and Ultimate Night Vision for walking me through it all. Looking forward to future purchases from you! -
Great experience
Tyler was extremely helpful in my decision making process. I've been able to use the scope one day (and it was nearly 90 degrees out) and it was great. Can see very clearly, scope functions well, relatively crisp if not on 8x zoom. Doesn't look like it will be difficult to identify a target and shoot 200 yards. Would recommend the scope, and would recommend Tyler for answering your questions.
